for between 1870-78, with twist-iron 28 1/2in. barrel (probably shortened), the top at breech signed 'J. WILKES WADE ST LEEDS' (faint and rubbed), carved tapering sighting-rib for the first 11in., border and scroll engraved bar-action lock signed 'WILKES', chequered walnut half-stock with iron furniture and no provision for ramrod
